The GVGG committee have been hard at work coming up with subcommittees designed to help with various guild functions over the next twelve months, and we’re looking for volunteers to help fill the ranks. Participation in these subcommittees offers valuable opportunities for skill development while contributing to the overall excellence of our guild. As such, we are pleased to introduce the following five subcommittees for your thoughtful consideration:
Major Events Subcommittee - David
Aim
- Get ShepparCon planned - pretty much the same tasks as last year, e.g.: choosing a venue; planning activities, getting in touch with potential sponsors, planning the layout. The marketing stuff has been shifted over to another team, so the task list is shorter than last year.
- Have the early discussions about if/when a "summer ShepparCon" event could happen.
Time Commitments
- A meeting roughly every 6 weeks most of the year, with 2-3 small tasks each to complete between meetings, until around 2 months before the con when we'll try to meet fortnightly.
Success looks like
- ShepparCon is held, and nobody dies.
Fundraising Subcommittee - Aaron
Aim
- Brainstorm fundraising ideas and explore ideas generated from the wider GVGG.
- Assist in developing a plan to enact viable ideas.
- Monitor and write applications for viable grants.
Time Commitments
- A quarterly meeting to review developments.
- The odd evening on discord to discuss/write applications or develop a plan to implement fundraising options.
Success Looks Like
- The GVGG is less dependent on Shepparcon as it’s only revenue stream.
Communications Subcommittee - Michael
Aim
- Help the guild grow by raising awareness through social media channels. This will include helping make videos (training provide; we’ll work together on this), making exciting post on Canva (same as above) and helping to come up with some cool ideas to show everyone how awesome our club is.
Time commitment
- Meeting once a month (via discord voice chat) and may increase close to major events. Small tasks may be required between meetings.
Success looks like
- Our social media accounts gain more followers, and our membership increases.
Small Events Subcommittee - Sarah
Aim
- get member benefits and promises delivered to members.
Time commitments
- meeting as needed, discussions with sub-committee as required to progress action items.
Success looks like
- merchandise and pins available before ShepparCon 2024 (end of 2023 is preferable) and one member’s event at least every second month.
Library Subcommittee - Sarah & Maylor
Aim
- Make the GVGG game library available to all members.
Time Commitments
- Meeting as needed. Discussions with sub-committee as required.
Success Looks Like
- Games can be lent and returned in a way that's convenient to the member and the librarians.
If you are interested in helping and like the sound of one or more of the subcommittees, contact us via gvgamersguild@gmail.com, and let us know your preferences. Alternatively, if none of these interest you, but you still want to help out, let us know, as more opportunities will come up.
Regards,
The GVGG Committee
